About the Author

Hi, I'm Maggie MacLean, author of the Civil War Women Blog. I'm just an old historian based in Southwest Florida who loves to research and write about women in American history. I do most of my research on the Internet - the greatest library in the world - and I always provide links to my sources at the end of every post.
I began writing the Civil War Women Blog in 2006, after discovering that there was very little comprehensive information on the Internet about the brave and interesting women who lived in our nation's past and who contributed in countless ways to the lives we enjoy today.
The menus in the right sidebar are designed to help you find exactly what you're looking for. You can use the Label Cloud to browse through more than 300 posts about individual women. Clicking on a link in the Label Cloud will show you all the posts in that particular category. The Popular Posts list is constantly being updated.
If you're looking for information about a particular woman, please use the Search Box. If you don't find any information about the woman you're searching for, please make a suggestion at the email address below. If I can find enough information, I will write a post about her.
I realize my blog's design is rather minimalist, but I'd rather write than spend a lot of time making my website look exciting or techie. My motto is: "No frills, just history." If you like the content you find here, you can grab a copy of the RSS Feed under Subscribe to My Feed.

My greatest joy in life is writing, and I thank you for reading my blog.
